Spending Holidays Alone?

It's not the best for some of us. Article from Issue 2 - Fall Edition 2020

Thanksgiving, alone? | Holidays can be an exciting time for many around the world. The time to spend with family and friends, creating memories, and enjoying what we all love... FOOD! But, sometimes we're alone and it's not always by choice. Maybe family lives in another city, state, or country and you can't afford to spend time with them. We've all been there. Alone and sad without those we love and care about. Here are some tips, suggestions, and ways to boost your spirits during the holidays.
Sadness? Nah! | Plan ahead. What's the day look like for you? Are you working? Are you going to be at home eating takeout? No! Create a plan for the day or even the weekend. Go to the store, pick up everything you'd love for dinner. Snacks, favorite drinks, new movies, or even a new book. Decorate your home with everything that makes you happy, something that brings out the best in you. Turn on your favorite music and enjoy the pleasure of being alone and celebrating a special day with yourself. Remember the best company is yourself.
Pick up the phone and call someone. This person doesn't have to family or even close friends. They could be coworkers who also don't have family around. Planning a special time out to a Bristo can make a big difference. Remember how blessed you are to still have something to call your own even during these times. Many people will be without during the holiday, always count your blessing and still be thankful.
Spend this time as a 'Me Time' event. Holidays don't always have to be about eating with those you love, it can be whatever you want it to be. Go to the Spa, get your hair and nails done. Do an 'At Home' spa session while watching your favorite series. Get creative!
Maybe you don't have friends or family, then what? Create one. Join a support group for those just like you, plan an outing. I mean, what could happen? It's worth a try.
