Self Love - Let's Talk!
What It Means & Why We Need It
What is Self Love? It's more than looking at yourself in the mirror and saying "I love her". It's an act for which you love yourself more than you value unimportant things—loving yourself enough to walk away from a toxic relationship. Standing up for yourself when you're being abused. Taking a stand for YOU when the world is telling you to be someone else. Saying what you mean even if your voice shakes! Drinking the water you know your body needs every day to stay hydrated. Putting your happiness and peace of mind before anything else. Understanding that broken friendships and relationships aren't worth any more of your time because, you have to start living for yourself and somewhere, there's someone out there who will match your loyalty and respect. Taking care of your mental health, realizing that even the most strong suffer from this and this too shall pass. Self-love isn't cockiness, it's not putting yourself above anyone else. But, loving who you are and putting your well-being above things, actions, and situations that have a bad effect on your mind, body, and soul. Self-love. Take those special trips alone. Take that walk in the park, get your favorite snacks, and watch movies. Mediate about life, and cleanse your soul from the pain that you carry every day.
You'll Always Be Your First Love - Virgin Beauty
At some time, women became victims of each other. With a world that's constantly telling us how to dress, how to speak, how to react to pain, what to look like and so much more! We fell to their standards of beauty. We have all looked at ourselves and wondered if we looked 'good enough' to enter our outside world. A world that has this standard of beauty. A beauty that's altered, manipulated, and created in an office. While stretch marks are BEAUTIFUL, many judge us for having them. Scars, freckles, moles, and birthmarks have become the center of jokes that hurt millions of people. With Pop culture showcasing the idea of false views of women and girls, it has become a problem for many which have lead to a spike in mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. The constant pressure on young girls to look thin and appear slim and fit because of the bullying they face every day for being themselves is at an all-time high! Photoshop and Filters have become the new normal, and while everyone has the right to do as they please with their photos, other's are degraded for not following the crowd. We've all seen a photoshop picture of a woman's body, was it pleasing to look at? 9/10, nope! That's when self-love comes into play. It's fun to add a filter to a photo, it's fun to play around with stickers. While we do see many women who inspire us all for standing up against bullies who mock their moles, stretch marks, and scars, they're criticized for doing so. The ones who show self-love are laughed at for being comfortable in their own skin. How do we fix this? STAND UP FOR YOURSELF and stop falling victim to trolls and other insecure women and men who aren't happy with themselves! It starts with YOU for YOU to feel better about yourself. It's up to you, to take a stand for your own happiness and peace. Are we going to stay in this same position and feel bad for ourselves because we have extra skin on our sides? Are we going to feel bad because our hips are wider than others? Are we going to feel bad about our lips because someone who gets them altered once told us they were too big? NO!
Self Love is a factor of things. It's more than a phrase used to make one feel that their confidence is too high. It's more than just a statement. It's an attitude of self-worth, it's about knowing who you are. It's about knowing when to walk away when you're being disrespected. Taking those extra hours to cleanse your soul after a stressful week of work, stress, heartbreaks, and disappointments. It's about not falling to the words of others who inflect their fears into you. It's about making sure you're giving your body the nutrients it needs to keep going. It's about waking up every morning and giving yourself a speech when you look into the mirror. Telling the woman you're looking at, that's she's doing a great job and you're proud of her. It's about giving yourself the same attention and affection you want from another person. It's about taking yourself out on dates, loving your own company, and embracing the fact you can do it. It's about taking a stand when you see someone else being attacked! It's about understanding that we can all make it in this world, it's never too small to fit in. It's never too late to make a change. It's never to late be the change you want to see in the world. It's never too late to embrace the beauty you were born with. It's never too late to smile because you're still alive and have made thus far. It's never too late to say "I deserve to be happy, I deserve to love myself, my body and soul because I'm worthy".
