Mental Health Importance. For decades, women have been pushed aside and ignored within the conversations of Mental Illness. If we express our emotions, we're the problem. If we voice our pain regarding anxiety or depression, we need to get over it and learn to fight through it. With the stress of society telling us to be someone we're not, the shame put upon us for things we can't control and the verbal abuse we take in every day about how we're too sensitive and the pain we experience is common has taken a toll on many girls and women around the world. Sadly the rise of mental illnesses for women and girls around the world is at an all-time high in 2020. In this article we discuss Mental Health within women, the effects it has on our mind, body, and soul.

Job interviews, Giving a speech, and First Dates are a few events that can cause the body to experience Anxiety. Anxiety can also be a sudden attack of terror when there is no threat. Anxiety Disorders? What is it and why is it more than just a temporary feeling of nervousness? When the feeling doesn't leave your body after events that occur and becomes disabling. That's called having an Anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders affect nearly 1 in 5 adults in the United States. Women are twice as likely than men to get an anxiety disorder in their lifetime. What can cause Anxiety Disorders? Genetics plays a huge part in mental illnesses including anxiety but isn't always a factor. Traumatic events such as abuse, an attack, or sexual assault can lead to serious health problems, including anxiety, depression and, post-traumatic stress disorder according to Women's Health research. With GAD, the mind often jumps to the worst-case scenario, even when there is little or no reason to worry. Many women will experience a rise in heartbeat, sweating palms, an upset stomach, the feeling of not being in control, a dying emotion that can't be explained. Shaking of legs and body, the need to crawl under the covers and hide among other feelings. While there are so many studies being done on this topic, long-term effects include memory problems. Being forgetful about small tasks that one would remember easily. Heart problems, which isn't a shocker considering the rise in heart rate when experiencing anxiety. Self-Treatment: Treating Anxiety depends on the severity of the disorder. Here are some of our favorite ways to help when experiencing Anxiety.

Morning Tips: A start to a new day is extremely important! Waking up with meditation helps set the tone for a clearer day. Taking 10 to 15 minutes every morning for meditation helps with Anxiety. It's a step closer to building healthy habits for the future. A healthy breakfast is a MUST! Our body needs nutrition needs fuel and energy. Our brains need this the most, ruining it on an empty stomach isn't healthy, especially if you suffer from Anxiety. Studies show that those who eat a healthy breakfast have much better control over their emotions when suffering from Anxiety Disorders.

Stress management: Planners! Planners are a great way to help with the stress that triggers Anxiety attacks. Writing down your weekly schedule can help with panic.

Positive Thinking: It's always hard to change your emotions when faced with the downs of life. Taking every situation and finding the positives can be difficult. Keep a Diary or a Journal. Write down all the issues you face every day, and write a compare section with ways to help turn those situations into a positive.

Triggers: What causes your attacks? It's important to take a look at what triggers your anxiety. While many can experience an attack without a sudden reason, it stems from an event or feeling that once happened to us. For example, rape victims may experience anxiety when around a certain area that reminds the body of that terrible experience. Many anxiety attacks can occur when reading, seeing, or hearing certain things. Writing down what causes your body and mind to react can help you understand what to avoid while also working towards facing the fears that Anxiety gives us.

Chamomile | Many swear by this tea! It's a herb that helps reduce Anxiety because it contains high amounts of antioxidants. Green Tea | Green tea contains L-theanine, an amino acid that is also used by those in Asia to help treat mental stress.

Depression | 15 million people a year suffer from Depression, Most of them are women and almost two-thirds don't receive the help they need to treat such a disorder. Women are twice as likely to develop depression than men. 1 in 4 women will experience a depressive episode in their lifetime. What is Depression? A chronic mood disorder. Depression causes feelings of emptiness, sadness, loneliness, helplessness, and worthlessness. Some bouts of depression can be mild to severe depending on the person. Most cases of depression cause a loss of appetite, weight loss, difficulty sleeping, low self-esteem, or it can become worse. While today many glorify the idea of having depression, in this article we give a small insight into what it's like to deal with depression every day. The mental fight against emotions can be hard to live with every day. The guilt of not being able to enjoy the things you once did, missing events with those you love, feeling empty and lonely even surrounded by a group of people. The terror of missing important days. Missed showers are common in those with depression. The need and want to be alone in bed all day away from the world, while also wanting love and attention. Women are more likely to suffer from depression based on studies that show the difference in our lives as opposed to men. Many women keep this secret from those around them out of shame with the fear that those they love won't understand their daily struggles. Depression isn't easy, not something you can kick to the curb when you're sick of it living in your house rent-free. It's a disorder that's becoming more and more common in the world today that deserves more attention than it's getting. Speaking with your doctor about depression may be a topic that needs to be discussed.

Treatment: Don't isolate. When feeling depressed sometimes we want to be alone. But, that can lead to unhealthy habits and can also make our depression worse. Take walks, go to the cafe. Even call a friend and ask if you can spend the day with them. Being more active! Fighting through the pain can feel useless. But exercise is important when dealing with depression. It's been proven that those who work out with depression tend to release sadness and frustration feelings from their body when putting their body through a simple workout. Maintain a healthy diet. Keeping your mind and body fueled is important! Our brain needs healthy foods to work properly. Many emotions are triggered by not having enough nutrients in our bodies. Take some time to reflect. It's always needed for everyone to take a break. It's okay to plan a day just for yourself to get away from the madness that we face every day. Me-time is a MUST! Take it, you deserve it. Therapy.
