Hygiene Tips
Let's talk about it.... In Issue One we talked about Hygiene and best way to keep your body clean. It may be Autumn but, these tips are GREAT all year round.
Women's Hygiene has always been taboo to many. But, it's a topic that needs to be discussed without shame or embarrassment. Below we list our favorite hygiene tips!
Drink Tons of Water!
Drinking water is ALWAYS a MUST! But, in the summer we're faced with hot temperatures that can cause our body to sweat more and feel grimy. Drinking tons of water and staying hydrated is very important for not only your organs but for your hygiene. Women who drink more water tend to be cooler during the summer, have cleaner urine, fresher sweat, and clearer skin. Don't forget your water!
Shower like a QUEEN!
Taking showers morning, night, and after any sweaty activity is important, especially during the summer. A mild, clean scented shower gel is important for a first layer of cleansing your skin and body. When washing your private area, it's important to use a mild and soft cleanser. Making sure to keep any hair you may have clean and fresh from a night of sleep, any activities, etc. Our favorite hack is using one of our body oils in the shower once you've showered. Rub it into your skin before drying off. It not only leaves your skin smooth and soft but also you'll smell amazing all day!
SHAVING or No Shaving?
Shaving or No Shaving? That's a good question, but the truth is it's up to you. While it's a good feeling to have smooth legs and bikini area, we suggest hair removal on the legs or even your arms. It lasts longer than shaving and using a razer. When removing pubic hair, it's important to remember why we have it. It helps pervert infections, STD's, and gives us protection from bacteria. When deciding to remove pubic hair, be careful, and look for easy hair removal that's safe for that area.
Cotton Underwear?
Why are they always telling us COTTON!? Because cotton is a fabric that has lots of tiny holes. These holes allow our girl to breathe when we're running around all day. It also prevents bacteria from staying in place that can cause infections.
Scrubs?
ALWAYS! A good scrub can go a long way. Scrubbing away the dead skin from under your arms allows your pores to breathe. Scrubbing your legs, arms, and around your bikini area can help keep your skin smooth, clean, and healthy.
Smelly Areas?
Women & Girls who have a foul odor after using the bathroom, during the day or after taking off your underwear could be eating something that throws off your PH balance. It's important to take care of your insides, not only because it's healthy, but because "She'll thank you later". Intake of vegetables and fruits helps keep your PH balance at a healthy level. Try changing your daily habits with eating healthier and drinking more water.
Washing Your Vagina? Let's Talk!
They always say "No soap, warm water and you're good" WRONG! If you're not cleaning this area properly, it can lead to an increase in bacteria and infections. Many women choose a soft soap to wash with that helps keep this area clean. Keeping your hair fresh and clean is important for smell and holding bacteria. Many women and girls ignore touching this special area because of shame. Discharge is normal, we all have it. This is a healthy sign that your vagina is cleaning itself. Separate your labia ( Lips ), with a warm washcloth and mild soap clean all around the clitoral hood and between your labia. This will rinse off and clean any bacteria that get stuck in between skin folds.
You should NEVER douche or use any sprays in your vagina.
