From, A'oleon.
On this World Teacher Day, I want to take a moment to celebrate a remarkable friend who has had a profound impact on my life: Serena. Reflecting on my educational journey, I am reminded of the teachers who shaped me, particularly Ms. Thomas, my art teacher, who fueled my imagination. However, it is Serena’s unwavering strength and determination that truly inspired me during our middle school years. She faced challenges with grace and never allowed bullies to diminish her spirit. Her compassion for others set a powerful example that I always aspired to follow. Today, I am proud to say that she has become a teacher herself, and I believe she is one of the best in Washington State. Her influence continues to resonate, and I am grateful for the friendship we share.
Every day, she exemplifies the profound truth that to instigate change in the world, one must first embody that change. Her genuine care for her students is palpable; when she speaks of them, her passion shines through. She understands that many children feel lost at home and often yearn for a simple gesture of concern from their teacher, a question asking if they are okay. She is the teacher that both she and I desperately needed during our middle school years, and for that, I will forever hold her in high regard. The respect I have for her transcends words. I hope she recognizes just how deeply she is appreciated and loved, for her impact on our lives is immeasurable. Her dedication to nurturing and supporting her students makes her an indispensable figure in their lives.
One story that I will always cherish took place in 6th grade. One fateful morning, I was bullied in the hallway, cruelly pushed into a locker and slammed to the ground. It was just a few days before my birthday, and I felt too defeated to celebrate. Deciding against a birthday party seemed like the only option. However, during my suspension, my incredible friend Serena called to check on me. She asked if I was still planning to celebrate, and despite my reluctance, she insisted on making it special. Thanks to her unwavering support, my birthday turned into a remarkable day filled with joy. I am forever grateful to Serena for being that friend who lifted me up during a tough time. I hope she has the most amazing Teacher's Day ever because she truly deserves it. Love always, A'oleon.
